Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program Hosts Monthly Legal Clinics for Dallas County Residents
DALLAS, TEXAS—In the month of May, the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program (DVAP), a joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas, will hold nine free Legal Clinics for Dallas County residents who meet certain financial guidelines. All clinics begin at 6:00 p.m., with the exception of the Veteran’s Clinic, which begins at 2:00 p.m.

WHAT: The Dallas Bar Association’s Community Involvement Committee, is holding a fan drive to help “beat the heat” this summer for the poor, elderly and disabled in Dallas County.
• In 2011, rising inside temperatures claimed 31 Dallas County lives and caused countless suffering among the poor, elderly, and disabled.
• In each case, a fan or window unit would have helped make a life-changing difference.
• Heat-related illnesses are preventable!

The Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas have concluded the annual “Equal Access to Justice Campaign,” which funds the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program in order to provide free legal assistance to over 4,000 low-income families with civil legal needs each year. The lawyers of Dallas raised a record-breaking—$834,000.
