Brown v. Board of Education - Participating Schools and Organizations
Cedar Hill Independent School District
Cedar Hill Independent School District will participate in the Dallas Bar Association's Brown v. Board commemorative activities. Cedar Hill ISD has shown the Brown Foundation's twelve-minute video tape to children in grades five through twelve. They have developed educational activity books that teach the lessons of Brown v. Board for their lower grades, and they welcomed Dallas Bar Association volunteer attorneys into the classroom to teach in excess of 4,300 Cedar Hill ISD children the lessons of Brown v. Board. They also participated in the Bell Ringing event by ringing the school bells at the time of the decision, May 17 at 12:52 p.m. Cedar Hill also sponsored a program for parents and other community members to commemorate the decision's anniversary. This program was a panel discussion, moderated by DBA member Aaron Ford, between Cedar Hill ISD administrators, school personnel and parents.
