Appellate Law Section

Provides quality, advanced continuing legal education for appellate specialists, and seeks to encourage collegiality and communication among members of the appellate bench and bar.

Meeting Schedule:

This section meets at noon on the 3rd Thursday of every month. No meetings are scheduled for July and August.

Section News:

Mark Your Calendars for the Joint Appellate Seminar:  The Dallas-Fort Worth Joint Appellate Seminar is scheduled for Thursday October 6th at the Winspear Opera House.  The CLE programs begin at 2:00, followed by a reception at 5:00.  This seminar features almost 3 hours of CLE (with ethics credit available) and distinguished panels on practice in the Dallas and Fort Worth Courts of Appeals (including Justices and Staff Attorneys from both courts), statistical analysis of the courts of appeals, use of appellate lawyers at trial (featuring Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn, Judge Craig Smith and Judge Bonnie Sudderth), and hot topics in mandamus practice.   To register, please send a $15 check payable to the “Dallas Bar Association Appellate Law Section” to Michelle Robberson, Cooper & Scully, P.C., 900 Jackson Street #100, Dallas, Texas 75202.    Additional information will be available at our September 15th section meeting.

Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson was originally scheduled to speak at our February meeting.  The Chief Justice's presentation on the "State of the Texas Supreme Court" has been rescheduled for our April 21
