*This CLE is compliant with New Estates Code Section 1054.201(b)(HB39), effective Sept.1, 2015, which requires any attorney filing an application for guardianship or appointed as an attorney ad litem to have 4 hours of credit to earn certification. For those attorneys with a 3-hour certification, this CLE will provide the extra hour to satisfy your requirements and maintain your eligibility to file applications and to be appointed attorney ad litem.
Purpose: To understand the doctrine of both “less restrictive alternatives” to guardianship and the concept of “supports and services”, and how the two interact to lessen the impact of the guardianship process whenever possible.
Honorable Brenda Hull Thompson, Judge, Dallas County Probate Court
Gregory W. Sampson, GRAY REED & MCGRAW, P.C., Board Certified-Estate Planning & Probate Law, Texas Board of Legal Specialization
*If you attended the May 26th Ad Litem Attorney Certification Course at the Belo Mansion, you received 3.0 hours for this Course. You will need the additional 1.0 hour to qualify for Ad litem attorney court appointments.
