Collaborative Law Section

Provides a forum for lawyers and other professionals who are interested in learning about the collaborative dispute resolution process and advancing their skills in the process. The goals of the Section are: (1) to promote the use of the collaborative process for resolving disputes in various areas of law, (2) to train lawyers and other professionals in the use of the process, (3) to educate the public as to the benefits of the process, and (4) to preserve the integrity of the collaborative dispute resolution process.

Meeting Schedule: 
The Collaborative Law Section typically meets at noon on the FOURTH WEDNESDAY of each month at the Belo Mansion.

Handling “Special” Clients in Collaborative Cases

Aimee Pingenot Key, board certified family lawyer and partner at GoransonBain PLLC, will speak with us about Handling “Special” Clients in Collaborative Cases. Aimee will share tips for recognizing destructive personality traits and managing parties who display these traits in collaborative cases.  We will consider a variety of common mental health diagnoses and discuss the best strategies for dealing with clients and opposing parties who may be struggling with these issues.  Aimee’s M.S.S.W. degree and background in mental health care uniquely qualifies her to explore this important topic with us.

Tom Noble, author of Mastering Negotiation, will present: Advanced Negotiation Skills Workshop. This will be an interactive session, focusing on the practical issues confronted by mediators and collaborative lawyers. A half-hour ethics credit will be included.  Tom is an attorney, mediator, negotiation consultant, settlement counsel, certified financial planner, life coach and student of wisdom.  He will bring all these talents to the table in our June joint meeting.  Don’t miss this opportunity to sharpen your negotiation skills!
