At the June 23 meeting of the Dallas Bar Association Board of Directors, the Board voted to create ex-officio board seats for the President of the Dallas Women Lawyers Association (“DWLA”) and its President-Elect effective January 1, 2017. The DBA membership will vote to amend the Bylaws to confirm this action at its Annual Meeting.
The Dallas Bar Association has a rich history of inclusion. Over the past 10 years, 30% of the Dallas Bar Presidents have been women, and the present Board of Directors is comprised of 48% women. The Dallas Bar also has designated seats on its Board of Directors for the Presidents and President-Elects of the J.L. Turner Legal Association, the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers, the Dallas Asian American Bar Association, and the Dallas Hispanic Bar Association. Jerry Alexander, Dallas Bar President said “we look forward to working with the DWLA to further both the mission of the Dallas Bar and the mission of the DWLA.”
