Allied Bars Standing Committee on Equality Hosts Event at Water Tower Theatre: “A Raisin in the Sun”
Bring your family and friends and join other members of the Dallas Bar Association and sister bar associations for the September 12 matinee performance of “A Raisin in the Sun” at the Water Tower Theatre in Addison!
Lorraine Hansberry’s award-winning drama, based on a poem by Langston Hughes, is a modern classic. First performed in 1959, it tells the story of a Black family in Chicago in the 1950’s who purchase and move to a modest home in a majority white community. The play addresses questions of identity, justice, and moral responsibility - all issues that continue to resonate today. It is often cited as one of the best plays ever written.
Meet at 1:00 pm at the theatre for a meet-and-greet before the 2:00 pm matinee performance. Afterward, attend a “talk-back” discussion about the play with actors and perhaps the director about the show.
A block of 25 tickets is being held at the theatre for purchase by bar association members. Call or email the box office to purchase your tickets, using the promo code DALLASBAR. Details and contact information are at www.watertowertheatre.org. If the September 12 performance is sold out, we encourage you to see another performance on a different date and to post your thoughts on the DBA’s Facebook page!
